Another Great Hike - Aesch to Aesch June 23, 2007

View from the hike...still reminds us of California...
In the valley...farms are everywhere, as are the cows, goats, sheep, and crops...

Switzerland is lush...
Vineyards...they are everywhere! Which means plently of good, local wine!

Old ruins...these too are everywhere.

Amazing that these ruines are still standing...

Another great hike...this time we took the tram from Aesch and hiked uphill to see the old ruins. It still amazes us that old castles are everywhere. The are springled all over Basel Land! This hike took about 3 hours and was a great way to spend a morning.
Frank, we know, we have got to get on the trails with the bike next time!

Katie thinks these old ruins are "nifty" - I happen to agree. I havealways wanted to check out old ruins of castles and whatnot. I remember loving it when I was a kid fantasizing about being an explorer when I would hangout with Joe and Pat in the old ruins across from the mission. I actually found old horse molars there once and felt like an archaeologist! It rocked. Can't wait to see these when we visit!! Brilliant!!

I was wondering if you guys might stumble across the barb wire fence where Dad & Many lost the swiss cheese wheel in the cow pasture. Let me know if you do!
